Help us help each other
Supervisor Luce has demonstrated his passion for helping those in need both in his personal life and as a County Supervisor. He values our non-profits who do the same.
Napa County has dedicated nearly $1 million per year ( $12 Million in the last 15 years) to local health related non-profits. This provided funding for Alternatives for Better Living, the Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Calistoga Family Center, Catholic Charities, Ole Health Clinic, the Children’s Health Initiative, Cope Family Center, Community Action Napa Valley, Legal Aid of the North Bay, Napa Emergency Women’s Services, Parent Child Advocacy Network, On the Move, Sister Ann Dental Clinic, Smoking cessation, and many more. This brought stability during the recent recession and ensured these services continued.
This is a program Supervisor Luce championed when the Tobacco Master Settlement agreement occurred in 1998. Staff at that time had recommended borrowing against the revenue stream and other counties simply absorbed the funds into their general fund. However, at Supervisor Luce's urging, the Napa County Board decided to set these funds aside to assist our non-profits who we consider important partners in meeting the needs of our community. This has provided important support for these programs.
