Zika Virus - What you need to know

What is the current Zika Virus situation in Napa County
· At this time there are no cases of Zika Virus in Napa County
Who should be tested?
· All pregnant women returning from areas affected by the Zika Virus should be tested 2-12 weeks after return from a country where Zika virus is circulating. 
· At this time Zika is circulating in a number of countries, mostly in Latin America (including Mexico), the Caribbean and Puerto Rico

What do we want pregnant women to know?
· If you are pregnant and traveled to a county affected by Zika within 2-12 weeks, ask your healthcare provider to test you for the Zika Virus
· The best way to protect yourself from the Zika virus is to avoid traveling to countries where it is circulating
‒ Pregnant women are especially advised to consider postponing travel
· If you must travel to countries where the Zika virus is circulating, take precautions to protect yourself from mosquito bites.
· We advise pregnant women that if their sexual partner returned from a country with Zika, they should consider abstinence or the proper use of condoms for the duration of the pregnancy
